Simon Fraser University's Burnaby campus looks a little different this week, as film crews are up here filming a science fiction TV pilot called Sleeper, "the story of a young man in a futuristic military academy who struggles with his destiny as a soldier—and with an alien invasion."

Filming will be taking place from now through May 4. SFU Facilities has posted a list of roadway and parking interruptions.

Note: If you're an SF fan, you'll recognize this particular setting as Caprica on Battlestar Galactica. The university's been blown up in a number of other TV shows and movies.

Edited May 10: It looks like the movie will be in the Halo videogame universe.

Edited July 13: Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Official Full-length Trailer contains "peekaboo" views of the Burnaby campus. Also see the Georgia Straight article for more background: "SFU goes extraterrestrial for Halo web series".
