Closure of Canadian Embassy in Iran
On September 7, 2012, the Government of Canada announced that it had suspended diplomatic relations with Iran. The Embassy of Canada in Tehran and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ottawa are now closed.
SFU continues to welcome well-qualified international graduate students from Iran and around the world. The Visa Office at the Canadian Embassy in Ankara, Turkey is responsible for all visa and immigration services for individuals residing in Iran.
To minimize possible delays, all admitted students in the region are encouraged to apply promptly for study permits through the visa office in Ankara.
We are monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates on this page as we learn more, particularly as it relates to how this may impact SFU graduate students from Iran living in Canada
