We're sharing the contest entries from our Show Us Your Research grad student photo competition.

This photo, taken in Ottawa, is from Josh Labove, Department of Geography, who writes:

I am researching the Canadian federal policy and laws that go in to the creation and maintenance of the Canada-US border. I took this image on my way back from presenting some of my work at the US Embassy around the corner.

The image demonstrates the questions of fixity and mobility that I examine at the border--the timeless Parliament Hill buildings in the background and a rush hour bus in the foreground.

I am fortunate that I get to have such an up-close and hands-on experience to Canadian lawmaking and policy and my research draws me closer to capital and the many ways it produces ideas about space through law.
