Scuola Normale Superiore is awarding up to 91 fully funded PhD scholarships for the academic year 2016-2017. International and Italian students can apply for these PhD scholarships.

PhD Programmes available at SNS include:

  • Classics
  • Cultures and Societies of Contemporary Europe
  • Financial Mathematics
  • Literature, Art and History in Medieval and Modern Europe
  • Mathematics
  • Methods and Models for Molecular Sciences
  • Nanosciences
  • Neurosciences
  • Philosophy
  • Physics
  • Political Science and Sociology

All PhD programmes are open to both Italian citizens and students from outside Italy. They offer unique conditions for scientific growth. All students admitted to PhD programmes receive full financial support. This includes tuition, fees, and a cost-of-living stipend. Support is provided to students who remain in good academic standing and make satisfactory progress towards their PhD degree. All students will be assigned further funding for their research activities and travel. Each PhD course offers scholarships reserved to students who graduated in non-Italian universities. Admissions are based on candidates’ academic work and interviews.

  • Summer Research Fellowship: St Andrews Visiting Scholars Scheme December 13, 2017
    The Visiting Scholarships are intended to give researchers at any level access to the University of St Andrews Library's extensive Special Collections. Successful candidates will receive financial support up to a maximum of £1,500 to cover travel and accommodation for a period of 2-8 weeks between July 1 and August 31, 2018. Apply by January 12, 2018.

  • Nominations Open for Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy December 13, 2017
    Nominations are now being accepted for the Nora and Ted Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy. The prize is awarded annually for work that presents new daring and creative ways of looking at the world. Submit nominations for consideration by February 15, 2018.
