Job Posting: Internship in Technology for Injury Prevention in Seniors
Technology for Injury Prevention in Seniors (TIPS) at SFU is offering a 4-month Mitacs Elevate internship to work on the design of a smart undergarment for monitoring physical activity and detecting falls in older adults with wearable sensors. TIPS has recently collected data from wearable sensors as participants performed various activities (walking, transferring, standing, and falling). The intern will determine the accuracy of machine learning approaches for activity classification and fall detection.
This internship is immediately available for a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow with expertise in machine learning data classification schemes to work on the design of a smart undergarment to monitor mobility and detect falls in older adults. This is full-time position with industry partner Armourgel.
Those interested in applying should send a CV, brief statement of interest and experience, and names of 3 references to Stephen Robinovitch, Professor in the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology and the School of Engineering Science, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
