Job Posting: NCCIE Indigenous Research Opportunity

Participate in Indigenous research to gather examples of excellence in Indigenous education in Southern BC that promote Indigenous Control of Indigenous Education as part of the National Centre for Collaboration in Indigenous Education (NCCIE). This project aims to develop and support the development of research related skills for students, while building knowledge of Indigenous education exemplars.

This is an experiential learning opportunity in Indigenous research. Preference will be given to students with experience in Indigenous education, Indigenous communities, or both.

Responsibilities include:

  • Attending a training session for the project (November 2017)
  • Interviewing (using video technology) Indigenous educators/practitioners in five (5) programs that are examples of excellence in Indigenous education (Nov. 2017 – Jan. 2018)
  • Developing a 3-5 minute video clip from each interview for submission (Feb. 2018)
  • Presenting your findings at a Regional Workshop to share the stories you have gathered with interested practitioners and organizations in your area (March 2018)

This position involves 5 to 8 hrs/week for up to 12 weeks, and will pay a $2000 stipend.
