Student Central is hiring for both the Burnaby and Surrey Campus Tour Guide teams for Spring 2018. The guides work approximately 4 hours per week providing tours to prospective students, campus visitors, and visiting school groups. They are looking for friendly, welcoming SFU students who are at least one year into their studies. They hire a diverse team, representing different degree paths, campuses, activities, interests, etc.

Tour Guides promote and personalize the university to prospective students and their families, as well as other guests to campus. Through guided tours of the campus, for both small and large groups, and through participation in large events (e.g. Information Evening), Tour Guides provide visitors with a comprehensive overview of the university and its students’ achievements as well as information about academic and campus life, and student services.

The minimum commitment is for 8 months. Once a guide has been with the team for two terms, they are eligible to apply to work as a Student Information Assistant, helping with front-counter inquiries, social media, training and mentoring newer tour guides, data analysis, and various other responsibilities.

Number of shifts and hours varies and are dependent on tour requests, and could include both scheduled and on-call work. This postion pays $12.75 per hour.

Applications are currently up on myInvolvement (Opportunity #4224 and 4211) and close on November 14, 2017. For more information, please see the job descriptions attached below:
