One slide. Three minutes. Cash prizes. Give voice to your thesis in SFU's annual Three Minute Thesis competition.

Three Minute Thesis (3MT) gives you a fun opportunity to talk about your research in a supportive and engaging environment. It will also allow you to:

  • Improve your presentation skills
  • Share your work and make connections with other SFU graduate students
  • Develop knowledge translation strategies for your research
  • Have a ready answer next time a relative asks about your work

Faculty heats and Wildcard heats (for students who can't attend their faculty's heat or who's faculty does not have a heat) will take place during February and early March. Winners of these heats will be invited to the SFU Finals.

SFU 3MT Finals:

  • Date: Monday, March 19, 2018
  • Time: 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
  • Location: SFU's Big Data Hub, ASB 10090, Burnaby campus

The best presenter across the university will receive $1,000, and the best thesis-based presenter will be flown to Saskatchewan for the Western Regional Finals at the University of Regina. Second place will receive $500 and the People's Choice Winner (based on audience votes) will receive $250.

For more information about 3MT, please see the event website. Register to participate in your Faculty heat or the Wildcard heats through myInvolvement under "Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Fellow Opportunities".
