Photo Contest #3: Show Us Your Home
Submissions Accepted: July 15—August 14, 2018 at midnight

Our 5,000 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows join SFU from more than 100 countries across the globe to study and conduct research in this beautiful part of British Columbia - but what is it that you miss most from home? Or if you are just starting your SFU experience this fall, what do you think you will miss most from home?

A maté in the park with your friends, the Northern lights, a glass of wine in the Okanagan Valley vineyards, a particular view, a traditional ceremony, family outings, or something very different?

Share your photo with us and win great prizes! As in previous contests, we’ll post the photo submissions on our website so that we can share your photos and stories with others.

All images are subject to consent. Selected images will be shared on the Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website.

Photo Contest #2: Decolonizing the Academy
Submissions Accepted: June 15—August 14, 2018 at midnight

Looking forward — in October 2017 SFU released a report by the Aboriginal Reconciliation Council (ARC) in response to the Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) findings and recommendations. As SFU continues a dialogue and participates in on-going acts of reconciliation under ARC’s recommendations we are theming the second photo contest as, Decolonizing the Academy.

We invite participation from all current and future self-identified Indigenous graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and allies to submit photos. Indigenous or Aboriginal as defined by the constitution of Canada includes First Nations (status or non-status), Métis or Inuit.

This month’s theme provides an opportunity for Indigenous visual storytellers across all three campuses to be recognized for their talent. This can be inspired by research interests, art, activism, relationship to the land, ceremony, community, everyday life, music and cultural practices.

All images are subject to consent. Selected images will be shared on the Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website as well as SFU’s Reconciliation website.
