Creating space for transformative conversations
“There is something more important than information. Values are far more important, and it is by understanding common values that decisions are made. We come to understand values through dialogue.”
—Dr. Jack P. Blaney, President Emeritus, Simon Fraser University
The award programming at SFU's Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue reinforces our commitment to act as a hub for dialogue and engagement by recognizing individuals who are tackling the challenges of today's world.
We recognize these individuals through three different awards:
- Jack P. Blaney Award for Dialogue is presented to an individual who has demonstrated excellence in the use of dialogue to further the understanding of complex and profound public issues.
- Bruce & Lis Welch Community Dialogue engages the community at large to explore innovative approaches to local issues through cross-sectoral dialogue.
- The Simons Foundation Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Dialogue on International Law and Human Security promotes public debate through events and community outreach activities.
The programming is accompanied by a series of dialogue events and roundtables to ensure lasting impact in the community and encourage cross-sectoral partnerships.
