Renewable Cities: An initiative of the Simon Fraser University Centre for Dialogue

August 10, 2015

After over a year of co-designing and planning, the Renewable Cities program launched at a Global Learning Forum in Vancouver, BC from May 13-15. We brought together leading jurisdictions and key innovators and helped to galvanize a movement for 100% renewable energy and energy efficiency in cities.

Now, we are proud to present you with the fruits of this pioneering event: reports, videos, and other materials that represent leading edge thinking on energy in cities.

Before reading further, please watch our short 106-second video that answers the question, "What is Renewable Cities?" This video was filmed at the Global Learning Forum and gives an overview of our work.

We would like to thank all our funders and partner organizations, volunteers, and speakers for helping to make the event a success. What's next for Renewable Cities? We're currently working with the City of Vancouver on the development of the City's 100% RE plan.

Lastly, in case you missed it—immediately following the Global Learning Forum, Oxford County, who joined us in Vancouver, voted in a 100% renewable energy target. Congratulations to this forward thinking municipality from Ontario!
