Creating space for transformative conversations
Dear friends and colleagues,
We hope you are all doing as well as possible in this challenging time.
Like you, we are grappling with the evolving nature of what is happening. Every day feels different and like many of you, we have been diverting our energy to getting ourselves set-up to work remotely and mindfully thinking about how we can positively contribute to the community in this difficult time.
As an office that is not used to working from home, we have been on a learning curve over the past few days. We have always considered in-person interaction to be an essential part of our dialogue work and we are working to understand what that means now that we need to hold all our conversations online.
As we all practice our social/physical distancing, we are closely monitoring what is going on and remain committed to creating space for transformative conversations that take equity, collective resilience and strengthening our democracy into account. Now, more than ever, we need to be thinking about what connects us and how we can bridge divisions that keep us isolated.
In the past few days, many of us have experienced a physical shift in our working environments, but we’ve also seen a digital shift, to all of us turning to video conferencing, social media, phone calls and emails to stay connected, while apart. We are heartened by the outpouring of support being shared in the digital sphere as we look to support each other from afar but remain vigilant that our community is currently in a moment of shock.
We haven’t experienced this before and despite the chaos, we are in a pivotal moment of opportunity. A point in which we must be careful and mindful to uphold the actions and choices that do not leave anyone behind.
We have assembled an internal taskforce to do just that. In the coming days we will be actively exploring various avenues that can be activated filling a need in the community and supporting our collective resiliency. We will share more as our plans come together.
We are forging ahead with gusto.
