Delineating accommodation space variations and reconstructing the paleoenvironmental evolution of McMurray Fm in the Central C Area, NE Alberta
Nearshore environments comprise an array of depositional environments (e.g. bays, tidal flats, deltas, shorefaces) which can be variably influenced by waves, tides, storms and river discharge. Physical and biological structures preserved in the sedimentary record allow the identification of these depositional environments. In this study, detailed analysis of the McMurray Fm in the Central C area of NW Alberta is undertaken to reconstruct and understand environmental responses of nearshore environments during rising relative sea levels.
