Sensitivity of Glacier Surging to a Warming Climate
Both glacier dynamics and climatic conditions dictate how glaciers will evolve in the coming decades. How these two forcings will affect glacier evolution, especially glacier stability, is not well know. Through numerical experiments with a thermomechanically coupled ice-flow model, we hope to understand how glacier stability will evolve under a warming climate. Our study will focus on glaciers within the St. Elias Mountains of Yukon Canada, but we hope our findings will provide general insight into the effects of a warming climate on glacier dynamics.
