Designing the Black Student Centre: Community Engagement
Representatives of Black SFU students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members are invited to participate in the SFU Black Student Centre design and programming community engagement sessions, hosted by architect Michelle Fenton.
The tangible outcome is to design a place within the context of the space provided that authentically expresses the culture and aspirations of Black Students at SFU. Another intangible outcome is to set a course for continued dialogue and engagement to improve the wellbeing and success outcomes of students and communities beyond the boundaries of SFU.
Call for Participation: BSC Design and Programming Workshop
We are holding two workshops intended to develop the design and further the planning of the Black Student Centre on the Burnaby Campus at SFU. Each workshop will be comprised of roughly 18-20 participants and will focus on designing the space and developing a functional program that supports the values and needs of the Black Student Community.
Please note that student participants will receive a honourarium for their participation. If you have any questions about this process, or the forthcoming BSC, please email Dr. Jennifer Kandjii at jkandjii@sfu.ca
