Year Graduated: 2013
Program/Degree: Educational Practice MEd

Please tell us how you first discovered your program.

My practicum teacher had talked about how she had done a post-graduate diploma in technology from SFU that was designed for teachers. I then applied for a program in my area and it was while doing this graduate diploma that a faculty member asked if I would be interested in doing one additional year for a master’s degree.

Please tell us why you chose the Faculty of Education at SFU for your studies.

I chose SFU because I liked that it was close to home and I could continue to work at my job and live at home until I finished.

What do you miss most about your graduate studies in the Faculty of Education?

I miss being challenged to learn something new. It is easy to put it off when no one is telling you to try it.

What would you say to prospective students who are considering graduate school in the Faculty of Education?

I think the last year was worth it.  The first two years of my diploma 'is what you make it'. It pushed me to become a better teacher and step outside my comfort zone. It also gave me to confidence to believe in what I was doing.
