Thesis: Examining Constructs of Statistical Variability Using Mobile Data Points

George Ekol’s research, supervised by Dr. Nathalie Sinclair, is based on exploring the contributions of cultural tools to statistical reasoning and thinking. The study situated at the undergraduate level takes multi-pronged theoretical perspectives of semiotic mediation and foundations of statistical thinking to interpret students’ interactions with statistical/mathematical objects. I use The Dynamic Geometry Sketchpad software to provide the tools and the dynamic learning environment.
