It is a pleasure to be involved in a program that challenges me to reflect on what it means to teach mathematics. As I am still involved in the teaching of high school there is still a strong tie between the theoretical and the practical which provides me with both insight and challenges. Currently, my focus is related to students’ understanding in the act of exploration. How is it that in the practice of “play” does a student of mathematics come to know? I received my MSc in Math Education in 1998 here at Simon Fraser University as well.
