New environmental school in Maple Ridge reported on News1130 AM radio

Mark Fettes, Assistant Professor, explains to News1130 radio that the learning environment for students will be unique in this new school.

"'A lot of the learning is going to happen not just in one place, but in a number of places around the district of Maple Ridge. And many of those places are going to be outdoors. They’re going to be in natural settings.'

He says the traditional classroom just doesn’t seem to give students much inspiration. 'The reason why it does not work — a lot of it involves sitting down in classrooms for a lot of the time, just working with pencil and paper and textbooks, and not getting out and experiencing things in some kind of more meaningful way.'"
