The American Educational Research Association (AERA) Division B recently announced that the Outstanding Book Award goes to Charles Bingham, associate professor of education at SFU, along with co-author, Gert Biesta. The book entitled Jacques Ranciere: Education, Truth, Emancipation demonstrates the importance of Ranciere's work for educational theory and how central Ranciere's thought is to his work in political theory and aesthetics. Both Bingham and Biesta illustrate how philosophy can benefit from Ranciere's particular way of thinking about education and deciphers the relationship between education, truth, and emancipation.
