On Friday, June 13, 2013, Faculty of Education Professor Dr. Geoff Madoc-Jones' students will proudly walk the stage at convocation to receive their degrees. They will carry on his legacy as his last graduating cohort and the first cohort to graduate from the joint SFU-Camosun Curriculum & Instruction Master in Education program.

Dr. Madoc-Jones was an inspiring teacher and a creator of innovative graduate programs in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University.  Committed to the development of teachers and community leaders, Geoff traveled throughout British Columbia setting up off-campus programs to serve those unable to attend classes in the lower mainland.

He regularly taught in these programs and supervised many graduate theses. He worked to provide access to graduate education for many Indigenous and mature learners who now serve as leaders in their respective communities.  Building on his experience with Master’s programs, Geoff was instrumental in launching the SFU Ed.D. program for educational and community leaders.

To honour Geoff’s commitment to educational access for all and his dedicated development of graduate programs, the Geoff Madoc-Jones Memorial Fund provides financial support for graduate students enrolled in community graduate programs in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University.

Donate to this fund to keep Geoff's legacy alive. All monetary gifts will be matched by the Faculty of Education.
