A memorial for residential school students is to be built as part of the Faculty of Education's new Aboriginal Gathering Place.

An article in the Vancouver Sun explained the memorial would be "honouring First Nations, Metis and Inuit children who attended residential schools" with locations and names of the schools on a map.

William Lindsay, director of the Office for Aboriginal Peoples, says the space will become a place of honour, a place to remember and a place to learn.
