Western Deans Conference
February 26-28, 2020
The Dean attended the Western Deans of Education (WADE) conference focusing on equity, diversity, and inclusion with powerful speakers from the University of Regina - Jerome Cranston, Pauline Streete, and the University of Saskatchewan - Chris Scribe, Dawn Wallin.
Developing Minds 2020
February 14, 2020
The Dean was the keynote speaker for the Developing Minds 2020 Conference at Harbour Centre titled “Lessons from creative and critical thinkers: How synergies and silos impact students’ learning.” Rob Fleming, BC Minister of Education, opened this one-day professional development event for BC teachers. The conference focused on practical solutions for creating synergies between creative and critical thinking in BC schools.
World Conference Executive Planning Meetings in Helsinki
February 10-12, 2020
The Dean was in Helsinki, Finland in her role as President of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) to attend Executive Planning Meetings for the 34th World Conference to be held from August 2-7, 2020 at the Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki.
ABCDE February Meeting
February 7, 2020
Dr. O'Neill attended the February meeting of the Association of BC Deans of Education (ABCDE), which was held at SFU Harbour Centre. The meeting focused on the exchange of ideas and discussion about enhancing educational opportunities for BC’s schools.
Executive Committee Burnaby Social
February 6, 2020
Along with members of the Executive Committee, the Dean attended the Executive-hosted informal social for faculty and staff at the Burnaby campus.
10th Anniversary of ITEM India
February 1, 2020
The Dean gave opening remarks at the 10th Anniversary Celebration event of the International Teacher Education Module (ITEM) – India. Since 2009, Faculty of Education student teachers have lived and worked alongside students and educators of the Sambhota Tibetan Schools’ Society in Dharamsala, India.
