Working Remotely During COVID-19

The Dean and all faculty and staff began working remotely from the week of March 16. Many planned activities were cancelled and travel was no longer possible. The Dean began providing weekly updates to all faculty and staff on issues related to COVID-19.
A Tour of Artworks Displayed on Campus
March 13, 2020
Dr. O'Neill and staff members joined a guided tour of artworks displayed on the Burnaby campus. The guide was Karina Irvine, SFU Gallery Coordinator. The campus walking tours for Education faculty and staff are organized by the Community Building Working Group with assistance from Robert Manery.
Equity Studies Lecture with Dr. Gwen Point

Dr. O'Neill attended the Equity Studies in Education Lecture Series featuring a keynote by Dr. Gwendolyn Point from the Stó:lō Nation. The talk was titled “Transforming Simon Fraser University: Bringing Back the Canoe to Undertake Our Collective Responsibilities to Walk Together on Ljukw’lhukw’ayten (where back gets peeled in the spring)”. The event also officially launched 13 collective stories in the video series with Coast Salish Knowledge holders, political leaders and SFU faculty members for a project led by Dr. Amy Parent who is pictured here with the Equity Studies in Education program Coordinators Drs. Kumari Beck and Özlem Sensoy.
SWAAC and the Inspiring Leadership Forum
March 4-6, 2020
The Dean and Associate Dean, Academic and Faculty Development, Dr. Natalia Gadjamaschko attended the Senior Women in Academic Administration Conference at the University of Regina. A preconference forum focused on Inspiring Leadership: Living Your Truth and the three day event provided opportunities for discussion and networking among Canada’s senior university women administrators.
