Literacy in the Urban Classroom Module
LUC is designed to support the development of culturally responsive ways of teaching with a focus on multiliteracies and what it means to be literate in today’s society.
Student teachers will focus on developing engaging, effective strategies to help students think, write, read and talk about content across the K–7 curriculum.
There will also be a focus on the urban context and ways to support culturally and linguistically diverse groups of K–7 learners, their families and their communities.
We try to place students from this module in Surrey (SD36) and neighbouring districts for school experiences and practica.
