Teacher Education - Professional Programs (French Modules)
Become a teacher
British Columbia needs qualified French teachers. Teacher Education programs are offered at the Faculty of Education at SFU. After successful completion of these programs, students are recommended to the Teacher Regulation Branch of the BC Ministry of Education to obtain their teaching certificates.
The PDP French module is taught in French and prepares students for teaching in elementary and secondary schools in British Columbia in the following programs:
- French as a Second Language (FSL) / Core French
Teaching French in an English program
- French Immersion
Teaching French and other subjects in French
- Programme francophone
Teaching French and other subjects in French at the Francophone School District (Conseil scolaire francophone CSF)
School teachers, school principals or school district directors working in the BC public education system must possess a teaching certificate delivered by the Ministry of Education. This certificate is recognized in most countries around the world.
