David Chariandy: one of "USA Today's" Black novelists you should read

August 24, 2020

In its August 20th, 2020 article, "100 Black novelists and fiction writers you should read from Abi Daré to Zora Neale Hurston," USA Today, named our own professor David Chariandy to its prestigious list.

The article cited Chariandy's first novel, Soucouyant, published in 2007 and his second, Brother, published ten years later. Both are award-winning works of fiction dealing with issues of race, immigration, and so much more.

USA Today also notes that, "nonfiction books on race have resonated with readers across the country... Readers are educating themselves on systemic racism and challenging their preconceptions about race."

Thus, we encourage you to check out Chariandy's latest book, I've Been Meaning to Tell You: A Letter to My Daughter, as well.
