Engineering science researcher receives Michael Smith Health Research BC 2022 Scholar award
Announced today, professor Michael Adachi from the School of Engineering Science is a recipient of the Michael Smith Health Research BC 2022 Scholar Award. The Health Research BC Scholar program is aimed to help develop, attract and retain B.C.’s best and brightest researchers, and to support the advancement of world-class health research in the province.
Co-funded by CLEAR Foundation, Adachi will be receiving the award over a term of five years to support research and the development of a new sensor that can detect proteins, or biomarkers, for Alzheimer’s disease at ultra-low concentrations using a simple and rapid test. Their goal is to make an easy-to-use tool that can be used by clinicians to help diagnose Alzheimer’s disease.
