From Classroom to Disney: A Co-op Journey of Mariz Fahmy

New SFU Computing Science (CS) graduate Mariz Fahmy has made her mark in the animation and tech industry during her co-op placements.

When she joined the CS program, Fahmy never expected to see her name in film credits—but that changed after standout co-op placements at Sony Pictures Imageworks and Walt Disney Animation Studios. By working as a software and systems engineer at the companies, she’s not only made it to the big screen, she’s now looking ahead to a bright future in tech. Reflecting back on her journey, Fahmy expresses her gratitude for the program that prepared her for a career path that aligned with her interests.
