Three applied science researchers receive CFI's John R. Evans Leaders Fund
Three researchers from the Schools of Egineering Science and Sustainable Energy Engineering have received a total of $300,000 from Canada Foundation for Innovation’s John R. Evans Leaders Fund (CFI’s JELF).
CFI’s JELF was created to help institutions recruit and retain outstanding researchers. The fund will support these researchers to build the necessary foundational infrastructure and acquire the tools needed to lead and conduct cutting-edge research. This enables SFU to remain internationally competitive in areas of research and technology development that align with the university’s strategic priorities.
Recipients of CFI's JELF:
Cheng Li, Professor, School of Engineering Science
Project title: Advanced Research Laboratory for the Internet-of-the-Underwater-Things (ARL-IoUT)
CFI’s contribution: $100,000
Mohammadreza Karamad, Assistant Professor, School of Sustainable Energy Engineering and Chemistry
Project title: Infrastructure for computational materials design laboratory
CFI’s contribution: $100,000
Ignacio Galiano Zurbriggen, Assistant Professor, School of Sustainable Energy Engineering
Project title: State-of-the-art power electronics testing facility for modern energy systems
CFI’s contribution: $100,000
