Since Maclean's Magazine started ranking Canada’s top comprehensive universities in the 1990s – those with a significant amount of research and a wide range of graduate and undergraduate programs – SFU has been among the top. In fact, between 2008-2012, SFU was No. 1 in Maclean's rankings of Canada’s comprehensive universities. Our faculty is internationally known for both its strong theoretical research groups, and for its ability to develop applications that can be applied in several existing and emerging fields.

Nestled in an idyllic setting, but steps from Vancouver

Simon Fraser University serves 3,500 graduate students and 24,000 full-time undergraduate students at its three campuses in metropolitan Vancouver – Downtown Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey.

This area of British Columbia is unique in Canada and is known for its mild climate, varied recreational opportunities and highly diverse population. Metropolitan Vancouver celebrates many cultural events and provides a welcoming environment for its cosmopolitan residents.

Graduate programs in the Faculty of Applied Sciences are offered at SFU's Burnaby and Surrey campuses. Located on top of Burnaby Mountain, just east of Vancouver, the main campus of Simon Fraser University commands magnificent views of Vancouver and the surrounding Lower Mainland area.

The SFU Surrey campus is located in one of Canada's largest and fastest growing cities.
