Sustainable Energy Engineering (SEE) - Application Information

SFU's new SEE program will begin classes in Fall 2019, and applications are now open. For full details about admission requirements, application deadlines, tuition fees and scholarships, please visit www.sfu.ca/admission. Note that applying to the SEE undergraduate program also requires filling out a Supplemental Application. The internal transfer process for current SFU students begins at a later date and does not require filling out the application form noted above. See below to learn about the admission requirements and key dates for internal transfer.

Admission Requirements and Important Dates

For high school and post-secondary transfer students

Please see the admission requirements for Fall 2019.

Applications are now open and will close on January 31st, 2019 for a September 2019 start. See the full calendar of deadlines.

For current SFU students interested in internal transfer

Admission is competitive, with the following minimum requirements:

  • Minimum cumulative grade point averagage (CGPA) of 2.67
  • Registration in at least 12 units in the term prior to admission
  • No more than 5 repeats
  • Meeting high school admission requirements (English 12, Physics 12, Pre-Calculus 12, Calculus 12, and Chemistry 12 or equivalent)

Can I apply directly into Sustainable Energy Engineering?

Yes once applications open, prospective students are able to apply and be directly admitted into the Sustainable Energy Engineering Major.

I’m currently attending SFU or another college/university. Can I transfer into the SEE Program?

Yes transfer options are available. Please see the admission requirements for Fall 2019.

When do applications open? When do classes begin?

Applications for the undergraduate program open October 1, 2018 and close on January 31st. Classes begin Fall 2019 (September). For full details about key dates and application deadlines, please visit www.sfu.ca/admission. Details about the graduate program will be available in the near future.

I'm beginning classes at SFU in Fall 2018 and would like to transfer to the SEE program in Fall 2019. Will I have to redo my first year? What classes do you suggest I take in my first year?

Students who are enrolled at SFU or another post-secondary institution for the 2018-19 year will have the option to transfer into the second year of classes of the SEE program in Fall 2019. To learn more about this transfer process or what classes you can take to be better prepared for SEE, please contact us by filling out this form.

Can I pursue graduate studies or a second degree in the SEE program?

The graduate studies and second degree paths are currently under development for the SEE program. Please check back for more updates or subscribe to our mailing list.

Once launched, prospective graduate students will be able to pursue a Master of Applied Science (MASc) or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in SEE. Research may include areas like sustainable energy, smart cities, clean transportation, and sustainable manufacturing.
