Biography

I am currently a PhD student of Forensic Anthropology in the Criminology Department of Simon Fraser University. I completed my BA in Anthropology and Political Science at the University of Victoria in 2016 and completed my MSc (with Distinction) in Bioarchaeological and Forensic Anthropology at University College London in 2018. My research is currently focused on the decomposition of human remains in aquatic environments and the use of novel underwater detection techniques to assist with the rapid recovery and identification of missing persons in the ocean. Other interests include: knowledge mobilization and science communication; criminal law, specifically evidence law and how forensic evidence is used in the criminal justice system; the identification and repatriation of the remains of victims of violence; the advancement of 3D documentation methods; and trauma analysis.
