Congratulations to our Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences graduate convocation medal award winners! The Medals recognize graduating students whose cumulative grade-point averages place them in the top five per cent of their class.

Adam Blanchard: MA, Psychology
Thesis: Dynamic Risk Factors in Violence Risk Assessment: A Multiple Time-Point Evaluation.
Adam Blanchard’s research interests involve the intersection of psychology and the law, and his research findings will have important applications in clinical practice. He is continuing at SFU in the psychology doctoral program.

Rebecca (Becky) Nash: PhD, Criminology
Thesis: Trusting the Con Man: The Role of Social Networks in the Diffusion of Fraud.
Dr. Nash’s doctoral dissertation was about the largest mortgage fraud in BC history. She is now a tenure-track assistant professor in the School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Emergency Management at California State University, Long Beach.

Bonnie Reilly Schmidt: PhD, History
Thesis: Women in red serge: Female police bodies and the disruption to the image of the RCMP.
Dr. Schmidt’s experience as one of the first women in the RCMP gave her a privileged position for her groundbreaking dissertation on the history of women in the RCMP. She plans to pursue a writing career.
