The research of Cognitive Neuroscientist John McDonald and one of his graduate students, John Gaspar (Department of Pyschology) is discussed in the prominent French and American popular science publications Le Monde de l’Intelligence and Scientific American.

The French piece is available online (for a fee), and like the Scientific American article (no fee), it covers the McDonald's lab finding that our brains rely on an active suppression mechanism to avoid being distracted by salient irrelevant information when we want to focus on a particular item or task.
