Chris Lewis, First Nations Studies alum, appointed deputy chair of SFU Board of Governors

Squamish Nation councillor Chris (Syeta'xtn) Lewis has been appointed as the new deputy chair of the SFU Board of Governors.

With a BA in Geography and First Nations Studies, is  an elected councillor for the Squamish Nation and is serving his third, consecutive four-year term, responsible for the portfolios of intergovernmental affairs, economic development, governance, and fisheries. He joined Board of Governors as an Order-in-Council member three years ago.

Lewis is a board member of the MST Development Corporation and the Coho Society of the North Shore and previously worked for many years at the national and provincial levels for the BC Assembly of First Nations, where he focused on First Nations advocacy and policy.
