Dr. Jenn Burt is an experienced marine ecologist and a recent graduate of the resource and environmental management program. Her work seeks to understand the complex social-ecological relationship between sea otters, kelp forests, and sea urchins within British Columbia.

Over the past 15 years, Burt has worked in conservation and natural resource management including instructing intensive courses, conducting field research, collaborating with First Nations Chiefs and resource managers, and participating in multi-stakeholder marine planning processes. She is now the B.C. Marine Program Lead for Nature United.

In her current role, Burt builds effective partnerships to find innovative solutions to advance marine planning, sustainable fisheries, and ecosystem-based ocean management on the B.C. coast. She is passionate about engaging local communities and people to improve our understanding and stewardship of complex coastal social-ecological systems.
