This informational webpage provides details on SFU Enterprise services that are commonly inquired about by faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and visitors, particularly those who are new to SFU. Should you have any inquiries while navigating through the instructions, our SFU ITS ServiceHub or FENV IT support staff are always available to assist you.

Adobe Products (Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Creative Suite)
Verified faculty and staff, as per SFU Human Resources, are entitled to a maximum of two installations, which can be utilized on personal or home devices, provided that they acquire an Adobe Enterprise ID. Detailed guidelines for Adobe products are available on the SFU ITS website. Use your SFU personal account; sponsor (role) accounts are not applicable.
Step 1: Obtain SFU Adobe Enterprise ID
A. Adobe Creative Suite (including Acrobat Pro) Named User License (NUL): There is a cost associated to a named user license (NUL) for Adobe CC.
- For Research purposes
- Faculty: Please provide a GL code of your research account to FENV IT staff via firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Grad students: Please obtain written approval from your supervisor or principal investigator.
- For Administrative and Teaching purposes
- Faculty/Grads/Staff: All Departmental administrative and teaching requests for this software must be approved by your unit manager.
B. Acrobat Pro Named User License (NUL): If Acrobat Pro is necessary for your work, subscribe to the SFU Acrobat Pro maillist by following the instruction. Use your SFU personal account; sponsor (role) accounts are not applicable.
Step 2: Install Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app
Install Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app if not already installed.
- Unmanaged computers: Download the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app from the Adobe website and install it
- Managed computers: Open Software Center (Windows PCs) or Managed Software Center (MACs) and find Adobe CC Desktop Applicatiton 2022 NUL for Staff and install it if it is not installed. Admin credentials are not required.
Step 3: Install Adobe apps via Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app
Launch Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app and sign in with the SFU Adobe Enterprise account. Install Adobe apps via the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app. Admin credentials are not required.
SFU Print is a service that allows SFU faculty, staff, and authorized individuals to print, scan, and photocopy documents. To determine your eligibility for SFU Print, please contact your unit's Manager, Academic & Administrative Services (MAAS).
You can release your print job to any SFU Printing device in three ways:
- using a key fob
- entering your computing ID username and password
- entering your printing ID (To find your printing ID, visit here >> Change Details >> Generate number if needed (image1)

SFU Printers are already pre-configured.
To set up SFU Print on your device, please visit SFU ITS website and follow the instuructions.
If the PaperCut client login window (image2) does not pop up when submitting a print job from an unmanaged device, manually launch the PaperCut client and resent the print job
- Windows PCs: Start >> PaperCut MF Client
- MACs: Applications >> PaperCut MF Client

SFU’s Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) refers to using two or more independent items to verify your identity, typically something you know (i.e., your SFU computing ID and password) and something you have (i.e., a time-based code). Detailed instructions for SFU MFA is available on the SFU ITS website.
Currently, MFA at SFU is implemented for web applications that use SFU's Central Authentication Service (CAS) for authentication. You will be prompted for your MFA code when you sign into most web applications and/or services at SFU, including:
CAS-PROTECTED WEB APPLICATIONS
- goSFU, Canvas
- FINS, myINFO
- SFU Mail (via a browser)
- Microsoft 365 (via web portal)
- AEM (author.sfu.ca)
- SFU Maillist (maillist.sfu.ca)

Note: Future services at SFU will require you to be enrolled in MFA. More details will be announced with the new services.
MFA enrollment is required for the following SFU computing accounts:
- Faculty and staff (including TAs and RAs)
- New SFU students (required to enroll in MFA by the end of your first semester)
- Sponsored accounts

It is recommended that students, faculty and staff use SFUNET-SECURE, the secure wireless network on campus. You also have access to wireless services at cooperating institutions in Canada, US, Asia and Europe using eduroam. Detailed instructions for SFU Wi-Fi can be found on the SFU ITS website.
SFUNET-SECURE is already configured.

The majority of wireless incidents are resovled by (re)installing Cloudpath.
If you continue to experience frequent disconnects or slow wireless service, try the following suggestions to see if connectivity improves.
- Ensure you are using a valid SFU computing ID.
- Ensure all Operating System updates are installed.
- Ensure the latest wireless drivers are installed (MacOS includes drivers as part of the Operating System updates). Drivers make a significant difference to the performance of your wireless connection. Please find the newest available driver for your wireless device from the vendor's website.
- Use devices that support at minimum WiFi 5 (802.11ac) on the 5ghz band. See http://www.wi-fi.org/certified-products-advanced-search to determine if you device supports WiFi 5.
- Disable any power saving features on the wireless card.
- Ensure you are connecting to the SFUNET-SECURE Network. Check out the setup instructions.
- If after following the above suggestions connectivity has not improved please email email@example.com and provide:
- Your first and last name
- Your SFU computing ID
- Your wireless MAC address
- Your wireless IP address
- Your device type and Operating System version, for example iPhone running iOS 15.4, PC laptop running Windows 11, etc
- Building and room number where you are experiencing the connectivity issue
- The date and time(s) you are experiencing the connectivity issue
- What is the nature of the connectivity issue
- Are you able to connect to wireless and browse www.sfu.ca
- Is the connection slow
- Does the wireless connection fail intermittently or totally
- Did you note others in the area experiencing the connectivity issue

Managed Devices at SFU
Managed devices refers to desktops and laptops that are managed by SFU IT Services. Staff and faculty can enroll their enterprise devices into managed devices, to benefit from standards that ensure the device is secure, license compliant, connected to enterprise resources, and regularly updated and maintained. Managed devices can also be found in offices, lecture rooms, labs, and libraries on campuses. Detailed instructions for managed devices at SFU can be found on the SFU ITS website.
Log in: Use SFU computing ID and password. All SFU domain users are allowed to log in on the managed computers. If you want to limit the login access to specific user groups, please contact FENV IT.
Remote Desktop: The RDP connection is NOT allowed by default. If needed, please contact FENV IT.
Applications: Please install or remove applications via Software Center (Windows PCs) or Managed Software Center /Self Service (MACs) if needed. This doesn’t require Admininistrator privileges.

Microsoft Products (MS Office, MS OneDrive, MS Teams)
Microsoft 365 (formerly known as Office 365) is a collection of productivity tools that combines the commonly used Office apps (e.g., Word, PowerPoint and Excel) along with powerful collaboration services like Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive. Detailed instructions for Microsoft products can be found on the SFU ITS website.
All current SFU faculty, staff and students are eligible to install Microsoft 365 for free on up to 5 individual-use devices, such as laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

SFU retirees, emeritus and adjunct professors are eligible for Office 365 online to help facilitate working with the University community. This furnishes all the Office services, but does not allow for downloadable desktop installs of Office. The Office suite is still available in a browser.
MS Teams, OneDrive, Office 2019 (or 2021) are already configured.

Computer Hardware Procurement
It is important that you consult with your FENV IT support team before making any PC purchases for academic or research purposes. For the best academic pricing and maximum systems compatibility at SFU, selecting products from Dell's enterprise product lines, including Optiplex, Precision, and Latitude, is critical.
Non-Dell hardware and consumer-grade products may not be fully compatible with SFU managed systems and may require extensive manual deployment effort. This can cause unnecessary delays in setting up your new PC and could lead to potential issues down the line. Therefore, consulting with us before making any purchase can help to ensure that you are making a well-informed decision and that the hardware you choose is compatible. This will also help to ensure that you get the best hardware that will serve your academic or research needs efficiently.

Their enterprise product lines provide reliable, high-quality hardware that is compatible with SFU's managed systems. Mapping shared server space
Don't forget to turn on SFU VPN when you access SFU shared server space from off campus.
- In File Explorer, right click on This PC and click Map Network Drive.
- Enter the path of the network server space. Server path for each unit is available here: Dean's Office, ARCH, GEOG, SES. Select Reconnect at sign-in option if you want to connect to the drive everytime you sign in to the computer. If you're using non-managed computers, select Connect using different credentials option as well. Click Finish button.
- Enter your SFU computing ID including '@sfu.ca' (ie., firstname.lastname@example.org) and password OK to map the network drive.
- In Finder, either click Command+K to bring up Connect to Server or click Go > Connect to Server.
- Enter the path of the network server space you’re trying to map and click Connect. Server path for each unit is available here: Dean's Office, ARCH, GEOG, SES.
- Enter your SFU computing ID including '@sfu.ca' (ie., email@example.com) and password OK to mount the network drive.
