Hakai Network for Coastal People, Ecosystems and Management
Welcome to the Hakai Network for Coastal People, Ecosystems and Management. We are an innovative, inter-disciplinary research team of international stature conducting research, training, and educational initiatives in support of sustainability and conservation in Coastal British Columbia, Canada.
The Hakai Network was launched on September 14, 2010 through a partnership between SFU and the Tula Foundation on this interdisciplinary initiative based in the Faculty of Environment to benefit the Central Coast. The Hakai Network works across many disciplines including marine, freshwater and terrestrial ecology, resource policy and planning, archaeology and statistics. With funding from the Tula Foundation, faculty, post doctoral researchers and students collaborate with their First Nations partners and researchers from other organizations on projects that focus on the sustainability, resilience and well being of the people and ecosystems of British Columbia’s Central Coast.
