The Toronto Youth Climate Engagement Strategy Project examines how the City of Toronto can enable, empower and equip youth-led leadership in climate action in Toronto to support the implementation of the City’s Climate Action Strategy – TransformTO. This is a community engaged research project delivered in partnership with the City of Toronto where we will co-design a consultation process with youth-led organizations, create a youth (ages 10-25) engagement for climate action strategy for the City of Toronto, and co-construct just transition narratives, visions, and processes for Toronto with the potential to catalyze systemic change.
The research project coordinator will be responsible for a variety of tasks and activities such as, and not limited to, partnership building, outreach, workflow planning, communications and implementation activities.

Details:
Face-to face meetings in Toronto will be required occasionally. To start, the hours are flexible and will be approximately 3-5 hrs. per week. It is expected that the research coordinator will have their own computer, internet, camera and phone. It is expected that the coordinator will undertake a set of training activities (webinars) offered by the University of Toronto (https://cris.utoronto.ca/). Starting hourly rate of pay will $27/hr. to $32/hr. depending on experience and education.

• Experience and expertise in community-engaged research
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Capacity to design and facilitate team meetings in line with workflow. In short, move us forward, identify action items and keep us on track.
• Strong capacity to workplan for a team, track workflow and ensure follow through by all team members including partners and graduate student research assistants.
• Strong capacity to identify, develop and build collaborative relationships with different stakeholders
• Capacity to generate a collaborative and welcoming research and work environment within an anti-racist and anti-oppression framework
• Impeccable written and oral communication English language skills, with a focus on plain language writing
Optional, valuable skills:
• Support social media activities
• Experience in outreach communication (e.g. general public and other non-academic audiences)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Outreach and Partnership Development
• Identify build collaborative relationships with appropriate partners and stakeholders
• Maintain regular communication with project partners, advisors and stakeholders
• Design and facilitate meetings with partners and peer-researchers
Research Coordination and Management
• Coordinate research activities in collaboration with the project team
• Provide support to project post-doc, graduate students, and peer researchers, as needed
Administration: • Monitor the progress of project activities • Monitor project budget; maintain records of project purchases • Purchase materials when necessary
