POSITION TITLE: Executive Director
REPORTS TO: Oasis Society Board of Directors
OFFICE LOCATION: 1004 North Park Street, Victoria, BC
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time salaried position at $60,000 per year
START DATE: July 2nd, 2019 or earlier


Purpose of this Position
The Oasis Society is seeking an energetic Executive Director who is excited about leading the organization where Indigenous values and norms are at the forefront. This is a dynamic position where the Executive Director is involved in all aspects of the Society, from managing the day-to-day operations to front line work. As such, the right candidate for this position will be strong administratively, grass-roots orientated, and have experience working with Indigenous peoples and marginalized populations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in a business, social sciences, or health-related discipline, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with a not-for-profit organization or registered charity, including application of by-laws and acts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exceptional interpersonal, liaison and communication skills.
- Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking.
--Experience working in an Indigenous community and solid understanding of the history and impact of Indian Residential Schools and colonization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the development and implementation of culturally-defined and culturally-safe programs and services.

- Proven ability to lead, encourage and motivate staff in a team environment.
- Exceptional change management and organizational development skills.
- Exceptional client service skills and client focus.
- Experience in grant writing, proposal writing, and
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency in computer applications: Windows, Microsoft Office programs, Email, Internet Research, and proficient in social media.
- Demonstrated ability to foster an innovative, positive and continuous improvement approach in the overall delivery of programs and services.
- Ethics e.g., honesty, integrity, accountability and appropriate transparency in all situations; sensitive to diversity in the workplace.
- Relationship skills e.g., networks actively; creates mutually beneficial relationships; politically astute; builds trust and goodwill.
- Experience working directly with a Chief and Council and/or Board of Directors.
- A Valid BC Driver’s License with clean Driver’s Abstract an asset, and willingness to obtain a Class 4 drivers license.


Responsibilities


- Work collaboratively with the Board to ensure the vision of Oasis is maintained and implemented through its mission, Board policies and daily activities.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with the Indigenous community and all partners.
- Manage efficiently and effectively all the programs and services provided by the society, through creation, implementation, and reporting.
- Ensure sound fiscal management of the society and work with the Board to develop and implement appropriate fundraising and long-term financial stability.


A current Criminal/Police Records Check and Vulnerable Persons check is a requirement for this position.
