The Population and Public Health Division within the Ministry of Health provides stewardship for population and public health in the areas of women’s, maternal, child and family health; health protection; healthy living and promotion; chronic disease and injury prevention; communicable disease prevention and control, and; infection prevention and control.

The Public Health Services Branch is responsible for all aspects of communicable disease prevention (including immunization); women’s, maternal and child health; living well with chronic communicable diseases; and infection prevention and control.

The Branch provides leadership and expert advice, develops policy, monitors, and measures outcomes, publicly reports on progress, and provides course correction for the health system and other partners on its areas of responsibility.

The Role: This position is responsible for providing policy analysis, advice and support for a wide range of issues affecting maternal, child, family, and women’s health.  Managing projects, conducting research, analyzing and developing strategic policy alternatives and recommendations, and contributing to the development of strategic frameworks, analytical reports and other documents is required. As issues frequently entail overlapping jurisdictions with other provincial ministries, government agencies, health authorities, community organizations and other stakeholders, the position may also conduct, participate in or support consultations with internal and external stakeholder groups. Maternal, child and family, and women’s health policy and program issues are diverse, may have fiscal implications, and have a potential impact on populations, individuals, families, communities and organizations.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
 

  • Master’s degree (preferred) in Women’s Studies, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Communications, Health Promotion, Public Administration or a related field and a minimum of 1 year of related experience; OR
  • Degree in Women’s Studies, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Communications, Health Promotion, Public Administration or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of 6 years of related experience.

Related experience includes:

  • Experience managing projects and/or project components.
  • Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders.
     

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience in women’s, maternal, child and family health.
  • Experience in policy development, research and analysis.
