Job Opportunity - Provincial Coordinator - Knowledge Translation, Alzheimer Society British Columbia

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. (the Society) is committed to building a world where people living with dementia, their caregivers and families are included, acknowledged and supported – a truly dementia-friendly province. The Society is looking for a new team member to join our Advocacy & Education department located in our Provincial Office in Vancouver.


As the Provincial Coordinator, Knowledge Mobilization, you will lead the development and implementation of the Society’s knowledge translation and exchange strategies in support of the Society’s efforts to build a more dementia-friendly province. You’ll have an opportunity to work closely with an engaged team responsible for dynamic portfolios including advocacy and public policy, dementia-friendly communities, research, and health care provider education.

Key responsibilities
• Ensure the Society is guided by the voices of people with lived experience of dementia by facilitating the Society’s B.C. Leadership Group of People Living with Dementia and the B.C. Leadership Group of Caregivers
• Co-lead the Society’s Editorial Board, responsible for the strategic planning and development of the Society’s quarterly publications
• Act as a knowledge broker on key emerging topics through activities such as conducting literature reviews, consulting stakeholders and developing key messages/position statements, in close partnership with members of the Advocacy & Education and Marketing & Communications teams
• Lead the development, delivery and mobilization of high-quality, evidence-based initiatives and resources such as training modules, web-based content, and online learning programs
• Provide ongoing evaluation of Society information and educational materials to ensure they are evidence-based and current
• Lead website quality improvement initiatives
• Play a key role in the development and implementation of the Society’s digital/online education delivery strategy
• Act as a central resource for staff across the organization, providing information and responding to inquiries related to dementia and caregiving issues
• Lead the Society’s strategy for participation in local, national and international conferences including the development of abstract submissions, poster presentations, exhibits and oral presentations
• Engage in knowledge mobilization activities by sharing information about the Society’s programs and impact and representing the Society at conferences and community events

Qualifications and skills
• Post-secondary degree in a related field preferred (e.g. public health, gerontology, health sciences,
sociology or equivalent expertise and experience in knowledge translation).
• 3-5 years of related experience an asset (e.g. non-profit organization/health and human
services/knowledge translation/working with people living with dementia and caregivers/research).
• Superior writing skills required. Must be proficient and highly efficient in creating content for a
variety of audiences
• Working knowledge of dementia, caregiving, living with dementia, and the impact on individuals and
communities is an asset
• Experience in facilitating focus/stakeholder groups
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to effectively learn and use
additional systems, including website content management systems, client database software
(Raiser’s Edge/NXT experience an asset), and webinar technologies
