Linda Van Vliet

Confidential Secretary, Faculty of Health Sciences

Biography

As Confidential Secretary, Linda provides administrative assistance to the Associate Dean of Education and the Associate Dean of Research. She also provides support to the Faculty Council  and Executive Council committees and coordinates Faculty recruitment.  In addition, Linda coordinates the SFU Health Sciences events including the Faculty of Health Sciences Research Seminar Series, the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society Lecture Series, convocation receptions, and faculty & staff social gatherings.

Linda joined the Faculty of Health Sciences in 2012 and brings a diverse background of experience to the Faculty. She has degrees in Kinesiology and Education, from the University of British Columbia, and has previously worked as high school and special education teacher for the Vancouver School Board.  In addtion to planning events for Health Sciences she has been an Event Planner/Coordinator to the Department of Global Affairs Canada (previously Foreign Affairs and International Trade), overseas, coordinating several events for the Prime Minister, Minister of International Trade, and High Commissioner.  Linda has travelled extensively and has worked abroad in several unique roles.
