Phoebe Melvin

Communications Coordinator (temporary)

Phoebe is a science communicator who has spent most of her career working in the Museum Sector. Most recently Phoebe spent two years working as the Learning Engagement Manager at the Natural History Museum in London, U.K. Here she was responsible for the management of a large team of science educators, the daily running of the education program, and coordinating bespoke corporate engagement opportunities.

Prior to her time in London Phoebe travelled around Australia delivering science shows and workshops to thousands of students and community members. It was here that Phoebe learnt the importance of being able to translate complex scientific concepts into plain English for a lay audience. The ability to do this is essential for driving public engagement with science.

Phoebe completed her Bachelor’s, and Honours degree in Biological Science at Deakin University. Following this Phoebe went on to earn her Masters in Science Communication (Outreach) through the Australian National University.
