Fall 2021 Dining Hall Updates

Our Dining team is happy to welcome you back!

With the construction of our brand new Dining Commons building underway and the COVID-19 pandemic, Dining Hall operations are a little different this year. Here's what you need to know about dining this fall:

Hours of Operation

September 4: 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM 
September 5: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Welcome BBQ 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
September 6: 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM 
September 7 – December 20: Open 24/7 
 

COVID-19 Protocols 

  • Masks are required
  • Touchless payment options are available
  • Hand sanitizer stations are in place

How do I access Dining Hall?

If you are registered for a meal plan, your SFU student card will provide you with Dining Hall access.

Please arrange for your SFU student ID card before arrival to ensure that you can access your meal plan right away. Students without SFU ID cards will be given a wristband for temporary Dining Hall access.

Order your SFU student ID card ASAP: complete the web form and indicate your delivery to Residence and your card will be delivered to Residence and Housing for you to pick up with your keys at move-in.

Take-out Meals Only

The Dining Hall will be take-out only for the Fall 2021 term.

You will arrive at Dining Hall, select food and beverage in a compostable container and take it to go.
 

Where do I eat?

SFU has installed a 300 seat heated tent adjacent to Dining Hall for the community to dine in.

The tent will be open daily from 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM.

Students will also have the option of taking meals back to residence or eating their meals elsewhere on campus.

Please keep in mind, meal plans are designed for personal consumption only. SFU ID Cards and food cannot be shared.
 

Food options

  • Action stations with customized ingredients, cooked fresh, just the way you like it
  • Chef-inspired international selections
  • Menus that support dietary needs (Vegan, Halal, made without gluten)
  • Plant-forward menu selections
  • Fun BBQs, pop-ups, local foods and special events!
     

Dining Commons Update:

The new Dining Commons building is currently under construction adjacent to the Dining Hall. Once completed, it will provide an expanded capacity to deliver food services to a growing residence population while showcasing delicious global cuisine focusing on local and seasonal ingredients for our students, visitors, staff and faculty.
