SUPPORT AND SERVICES FOR STUDIES IN FRENCH

Did you know that SFU has an office dedicated to supporting studies in French? The Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs, also known as OFFA, supports faculties and departments in the development, coordination and promotion of programs and courses offered in French. OFFA is also mandated to organize activities with the community to promote the French language and culture.

By studying in French at SFU, you'll have free access to a host of services to help you in your studies, and opportunities to develop your social and professional network in French!

SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS

By joining the Department of French, and studying in French at SFU, you could be eligible for a variety of exclusive scholarships and prizes offered by OFFA and various partners. Don't forget that you may also have access to loans and bursaries managed by SFU, the Department of French and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

  • French for the Future National Essay Contest: $2,500
  • FFCB-BAFF scholarships: $1,000
  • French as a Second Language (FSL) Bursary Program: $3000
  • Bursary for post-secondary studies in French: up to $5,000
  • Community Leadership Award: $3,000

STUDENT LOUNGE

Located in OFFA's Cornerstone building, the student lounge is the ideal place to study or relax between classes. You'll find study tables, a kitchen and several French resources, including two workstations with printers and computers equipped with the Antidote application to help you correct your French assignments.

STUDENT LIFE IN FRENCH

At SFU, French is a living language! You'll have the opportunity to speak French outside the classroom at various activities such as the FrenchFête de la rentrée, 5@8 franco, cultural and outdoor outings and much more.
