Methodological and Operational Problems

( RETURN TO PROJECT INDEX)

The biggest problems I faced working on this project  was the age of the data set. The newest available census data for the GVRD region were collected back in 1996. In addition, the census data were drawn from a 20 % sample estimations. Therefore the accuracy of the data might vary from the actual characteristics of the population.

I also ran into the problem on evaluating some of the factors under my set of criteria for this project. For instance, there were no direct statistical data field for part-time worker aged 15 to 24 in GVRD, or forthe average income of the 15-24 age group.  I would like to include  these two factors as my criteria for my spatial analysis project. However, because the census data did not break down the statistical information of average income and part time worker status in GVRD regions by age group, I was required to deal with this by creating my own Boolean overlays to achieve a desired results; there were some element of uncertainties for my data that I wish I would be able to address.
