The goals of the visual basic programs developed by our group were to assist in the analysis. We choose the use Visual Basic to write our program because it could create a stand-alone application that was easily accessible allowing group members to run the program from their personal computer The Visual Basic programs were designed with a user friendly graphic user interface for maximum user interoperability. In addition, the Visual Basic applications developed to run the paired t-test and correlation programs were designed to help the group members move easily through the analysis portion of the research project. There were three programs developed in our project and they were household, t-test and correlation.

Household Program

The Households program (above) was used to calculate the number households with more than one person per room. The calculations were based on the average bedrooms per area.

This program was developed to do the paired t-test comparing the empirical Bayes estimation and the Standardized Mortality Ratio.
