9.1 Comments on Accuracy
- As mentioned previously, it is difficult to identify the optimal
relocation for Firehall #5. The results of the analysis suggest that
the Alternative Proposal Site is most suitable. Although this site
services the most population, services the most schools, reaches the school
with the largest student population the fastest, there are inherent errors
that are introduced.
- Perhaps the results could be more substantial if I had a valid reference to compare my results to. But even that method has its flaws since the data from that reference may be outdated, or does not apply in this context...etc...etc. Errors may be multiplying at each stage of the analysis.
9.2 Implications for Policy
- Since the OCP meets the requirements of Sections 876, 877, and 878
of the Municipal Act, it does provide the elementary basis for policy development
or improvement.
- Although the results of my analysis may be limited, I am confident that it provides a positive example for similar work towards solving some needs and future concerns outlined in the Fire Prevention and Public School Facilities section of the OCP.
9.3 Personal Remarks
- I found this project both challenging and fun. I am more confident
with my Arcview skills as well as in acquiring GIS data. Publishing
on the Internet was new to me and I found it useful to become familiar
with this skill as well.
